1.      STRAWBERRY, HONEY & OAT CLEANSER

YIELD: ABOUT 4 OUNCES TIME: 15 MINUTES (NOT INCLUDING TIME TO COOK THE

OATS)

GOOD FOR: ALL SKIN TYPES

Even the most sensitive skin types will benefit from this mild cleanser and exfoliation. The shredded coconut and strawberry seeds exfoliate dead skin cells, while the coconut milk and honey hydrate for hours. When travelling, this dish is simple to create because most of the ingredients can be obtained at a breakfast buffet; however, you will need to use a utensil instead of your mini food processor.

What You Need

1 tbsp. shredded coconut

2 strawberries

1/4 cup precooked oats

1 tablespoon of coconut milk (or green tea)

1 tablespoon honey (or molasses)

Preparation

1. Combine the shredded coconut and strawberries in a mini food processor. Pulse a couple of times.

2. Add the remaining ingredients to the mini chop and pulse until smooth.

3. Place in a compact, airtight container.

  • On USE: Apply a dime-sized amount of cleanser to your face. Rinse well.
  • STORAGE: Keep in the fridge for 10 days to 2 weeks. You may also double the recipe and freeze it for later use. Fill each space in an ice cube tray with a dollop of the product and defrost one cube in the refrigerator or on the countertop as needed.

USE ON A DAILY BASIS, MORNING AND NIGHT

HAVE A LOOK

You’ll find that the textures and consistency of the different cleansers vary. Others may be runnier, some firmer, and some will be what I term a “cleaning paste.” I enjoy using cleaning pastes. They are simple to use, compact, and effective. Remember that while washing your face, you should always use warm water. For optimum skin health, I cannot emphasize enough the significance of cleaning with warm, not hot, water. It is much more necessary to wet your skin when using a paste, and you will add a few drops of water to the paste to loosen it so it distributes freely in your palms before applying it to your face.

2.      ALMOND CLEANSER

YIELD: ABOUT 4 OUNCES TIME: 15 MINUTES NOT INCLUDING TIME TO MAKE THE

TEA

GOOD FOR: DRY SKIN, DULL SKIN

This cleanser contains almonds, which are high in vitamin E and vital fatty acids, which help to restore moisture. Ground almonds not only provide all of the nut’s medicinal elements but also work as a moderate exfoliate.

Ingredients

1/8 cup liquorice tea, prepared and cooled

1/4 cup finely ground almonds

1 tbsp goat milk or soymilk

1/2 tablespoon molasses

Procedure

  1. In a mini chop or blender, combine all ingredients and blend well. You can grind whole almonds first, then add the rest of the ingredients and blend again.
  2. Transfer to a small airtight container.
  • TO USE: Apply a dime-size drop of cleanser to your face. Completely rinse.
  • STORAGE: Refrigerate for 10 days to 2 weeks. You may also produce a larger quantity and freeze it for later use. Fill an ice cube tray with a dollop of the product in each place and thaw one cube in the refrigerator or on the countertop as needed.
  • APPLY ON A DAILY BASIS, MORNING AND NIGHT
  • ALLERGY ADJUSTMENT: If you have a nut allergy, substitute hemp flour for ground almonds.

3.      ACTIVATED CHARCOAL CLEANSER

YIELD: ABOUT 4 OUNCES TIME: 15 MINUTES

GOOD FOR: ALL SKIN TYPES

Every skin type should use activated charcoal. It gets deep into your pores and pulls out all the old oils and dirt, leaving your skin clean and ready to breathe again. Congested pores aggravate all skin issues and hasten skin ageing.

This is a good cleanser for deep pore cleansing and detoxing.

Ingredients

1/2 teaspoon activated charcoal

3/4 teaspoon jojoba oil

1 tablespoon French green clay

2 tbsp finely ground sunflower seeds

Procedure

1. In a mini chop or blender, combine all ingredients and blend well.

2. Transfer to a small airtight container.

  • TO USE: Apply a dime-size dollop of cleanser to your face. The cleanser will be powdery, or what I call a “cleansing paste,” and you will need to activate it with water before using it. For dry masks, a teaspoon of water is all that is needed to achieve the desired consistency. Completely rinse.
  • STORAGE: Refrigerate for up to 3 weeks or freeze for 4-8 months.
  • APPLY: Twice daily

DID YOU KNOW?
Activated charcoal is not the same as the charcoal we use for grilling. It is produced solely for medicinal purposes. It is used by doctors to treat a wide range of conditions, including poisoning.
Estheticians adore it for its ability to attract toxins from the skin, possibly in the same way that it aids in the removal of poisons from the body.
